Evans, Stanley John

Private 3174 Stanley John Evans. 1st Battalion, Honourable Artillery Company. Killed in action at Beaucourt between 13th and 15th November 1916, aged 27. No known grave. Commemorated on Thiepval Memorial, France.

  • Appointed as Lance Corporal on 26th February 1916
  • Transferred to the 1st Battalion on 21st July 1916 and reverted to the rank of Private
  • Left England from Southampton on 21st July 1916
  • Arrived in Havre, France on 22nd July 1916
  • Appointed Lance Corporal on 29th July 1916 with No.6 Entrenching Battalion
  • Promoted to Acting Corporal on 3rd September 1916
  • Reverted to the rank of Private on 16th October 1916
  • Returned to the 1st Battalion on 17th October 1916 and posted to A Company
  • Killed in action at Beaucourt between 13th and 15th November 1916
  • Brother of Jessie F. (b.c.1885) and Laura M. (b.c.1889)
